Motorcycle Accidents

Round Rock, Texas, Motorcycle Accident Lawyers

The failure of other motorists to see motorcyclists is often the cause of motorcycle accidents. Many motorcycle accidents happen because the other driver simply "did not see the motorcyclist coming" or did not see the motorcyclist in time to avoid him or her.

At the Central Texas law offices of Grimes & Whitlow, P.C., located in Round Rock, we help the victims of motorcycle accidents caused by the negligence of others to recover compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering.

Motorcycle accidents in Texas rank third, behind car accidents and truck accidents, in the number of vehicles involved in fatal accidents. In 2001, the Department of Public Safety reported there were 244 motorcycle fatalities, an increase of nearly 25 percent over the previous year. Among those killed, 67 percent of the motorcyclists were not wearing helmets.

The Department of Public Safety lists several situations in which motorcycle accidents are most likely to occur, including:

  • Left turns. More than 40 percent of all motorcycle v. car accidents in Texas occur at intersections, when a car driver makes a left turn in front of a motorcyclist.
  • Blind spots. A motorcyclist riding alongside a car is often out of view of the driver.
  • Hazardous road conditions
  • Weather conditions
  • Large vehicles. A truck, van or other large vehicle can block a motorcyclist from view. Suddenly, the motorcycle may seem to appear out of nowhere.

Helping Catastrophic Injury Victims

If your loved one was driving or riding a motorcycle and was involved in a serious accident with another vehicle, chances are he or she suffered a serious or even catastrophic injury such as a disabling head injury, leg injury or spinal cord injury.

Motorcycle injury cases are often more complex than other serious auto accident claims for many reasons. For example, if the claim is disputed it can be difficult to find a witness to testify. Our lawyers have extensive experience working with accident reconstruction analysts and other experts who help gather evidence and determine negligence in motorcycle accident claims.

Our law firm accepts all personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis, which means a client pays us nothing before we obtain successful resolution of his or her claim. Our fees and those of the experts are paid out of the recovery. If there is no recovery, we pay the experts
